Services in Melbourne

Breakdowns, not showrooms

A door hanging on one cable is a safety problem, not an inconvenience. Those calls come before scheduled work, every time.

A grey garage door beside a brick wall

Broken torsion spring

The bang you heard in the garage. Springs are replaced in matched pairs and cycle-rated to the weight of your actual door, not to whatever is cheapest in the van. Covering Melbourne and the surrounding suburbs.

Cable off the drum

The door hangs at an angle and is under load. Do not pull on it and do not run the motor. We re-seat the cable and re-balance rather than forcing it.

Motor hums, door stays put

Almost always a spring, not the motor. We diagnose before quoting, which sometimes means telling you the expensive part is fine.

Off-track & bent tracks

Usually a reversing accident. Tracks straightened or sectioned out, and we check the rollers that took the same impact.

A bang, a hum, a grind or silence. Those four sounds point at four different faults, and a photo usually settles it.

Door made safe first

Disconnected and secured before anything is dismantled. An unbalanced sectional door can weigh well over 100kg.

Balanced by hand, run through the full cycle several times, travel limits reset, warranty written on the invoice.

Before you book anyone

Four questions that separate a repair from a sales call.

The standing problem in this trade is a cheap call-out followed by a recommendation to replace the whole door. These questions make that considerably harder.

  • Ask whether both springs are being replacedSprings are fitted together, cycle together and fatigue together. Replacing one on an older door usually buys you a second call-out inside a year.
  • Ask for the cycle ratingA 10,000-cycle spring on a door opened six times a day is a three-year part. Ask what you are getting and what it is rated to.
  • Ask to be shown the failed partA broken spring, a frayed cable and a stripped gear are all obvious once pointed at. Anyone who will not show you should be asked why.
  • Ask what the warranty covers separatelyParts and labour are often warranted for different periods. Get both written on the invoice rather than described on the phone.

Melbourne questions

Which Melbourne suburbs do you cover?

Direct coverage across Melbourne and the surrounding areas, including Fitzroy, St Kilda, Richmond, Brunswick, Footscray, Box Hill. If you are outside that, ring anyway — we will give you an honest arrival time rather than a number you would like to hear.

How quickly can someone get to me in Melbourne?

Typically 90 minutes for inner Melbourne. Traffic and the time of day move that, so the window you are given on the call is the one we hold ourselves to — if it slips, you get a ring, not silence.

Where are you based in Melbourne?

Our Melbourne address is 120-200 Rosamond Road, Maribyrnong VIC 3032. Teams work across the metro area rather than out of that office, so your arrival time depends on who is closest to you, not on how far you are from that address.

The motor hums but nothing moves.

Almost certainly a broken torsion spring. The motor only overcomes friction — the springs carry the weight. Stop pressing the button, and do not try to lift it by hand: an unbalanced sectional door is heavy enough to do real damage.

Do I really need both springs done?

On a two-spring door, yes, and we will say so. They were installed on the same day and have done the same number of cycles. Replacing one leaves a part already most of the way through its life sitting next to a new one.

Can you come today?

Most days, yes, for anything that is stuck, unsafe or leaving a house open. Scheduled servicing gets booked around those calls rather than ahead of them.

Is a door that opens but scrapes urgent?

Not an emergency, but do not leave it. Scraping usually means a roller or a track is going, and that is a cheap fix now and an off-track door later.
